Origin

The origins of the Concours d’Élégance, an “elegance competition,” date back to the Belle Époque, when enthusiasts strolled the parks of fancy cities such as Paris, Berlin, London and Brussels in elegant horse carriages. For carriage builders, these outings were a great opportunity to show off their finest creations to the public. These outings evolved into formal beauty contests. Shiny horses were gradually replaced by roaring engines. The charm of a Concours d’Élégance has lost none of its appeal, rather the contrary.

Concours d’élégance

On Sunday, July 21, Circuit Zolder promises to be a special day for classic car enthusiasts. Paddock Zone 5 will undergo a metamorphosis for the Concours d’Élégance, where about fifty carefully selected classic cars will be on display. Exactly 40 years ago was the last time the Formula One circus visited Circuit Zolder. Thierry Boutsen will be present at the Concours d’Élégance with his Arrows A8, and fans of classic Grand Prix cars will be in for a treat. In addition, we will celebrate the 100th, 60th and 50th anniversaries of MG, the Ford Mustang and the Volkswagen Golf, respectively, in separate classes. The rebirth of Lancia is showcased in its own class, and modern “classic” sports cars are not missing from an additional class highlighting the future of vintage cars.
